Inception (Christopher Nolan, 2010)
"You keep telling yourself what you know. But what do you believe? What do you feel?"
Introduction
It wasn't my favourite film of 2010 - but it was pretty damn high: Number 3. Ironically, one point I made when recording my initial observations of the film was my lack of interest in the soundtrack - going so far as to say that I couldn't hear a clear 'theme' throughout. I take this back. This was foolish - since then, I have bought the soundtrack and I love it. It is great and Hans Zimmer impresses once again. Its worth noting that the incredible soundtrack to Tron:Legacy by Daft Punk states in the liner notes "with thanks to Hans Zimmer, John Powell..." and I think their are some very Zimmer-esque elements to the Tron:Legacy soundtrack, whilst John Powell is The Bourne Identity composer and, I think there are hints of that too. One thing Jo pointed out when we discussed Inception on the recent podcast was the ambiguity of the character - knowing who is good and bad. I think this is a great point to raise and this is where I will begin, by fusing it with some religious symbolism ...

Simon and Jo Film Show 01/01/2011: Tron: Legacy and THE Top 10 Films of 2010!
Back into the 'dream location' that is the Ritzy in Brixton, the main review is Tron and Jo and I have managed to watch Tron prior to watching Tron: Legacy. This gives us ample opportunity to discuss both films in relation to each other ...
We also manage to cover a bunch of news articles from the last two weeks whilst changing our Top London Box-Office to the Worldwide Box-Office of 2010.
Then, to finish, we reveal our favourite films of 2010. Just like last year, these are revealed to each other at the same time as revealing the information to you dear listener.
Links
Facebook-er of the week is Mark Harrison, whilst we urge you to follow - on twitter - KaffLaws.
Blog of the week is Jess at Insight into Entertainment whereby she has a great game called 'Movie Mash-Up' so check it out and enjoy the fun and games. Click on the links to go directly to the website!
Trailers
Music
All music between the breaks is from the incredible soundtrack to Tron: Legacy by Daft Punk, whilst during the Top 10 Films of 2010 the songs are the sounds from each film - except in the odd case where something wasn't available I got music from the trailer.

Inception Back Lash
On the most recent podcast, Jo mentioned that Alistair leads the way in despising Inception. Well, its not exclusively our good friend Al. Popular website Ultra Cool created a post naming the '10 Things That Stop Inception From Being As Good As It Thinks'.
The link is as follows:
http://www.ultraculture.co.uk/4234-10-things-that-stop-inception-being-as-good-as-it-thinks-it-is.htm
Suffice to say, I only recently read a small article in the London Evening Standard about how '1 in 5 theatre-goers' are watching Inception twice at the cinema to clarify what it is about.
Personally, I feel that Shutter Island is a better film and, potentially because of all the pubicity Inception got, I am getting a little bored by those warm-colours (golds, oranges and brown...) of that hotel interior that we are continually seeing. The argument goes that, on a second viewing, you will see the gaping holes in the story and problems in the film.
I have yet to see the film a second time, though have got every intention to see it a second time in the cinema...

The Simon and Jo Film Show: 18/07/2010

As a special post birthday present to Simon Jo watched Jurassic Park. He offers a different perspective on the dino classic, as well as some choice words on Oscar winner Michael Clayton. They both have views on the new releases and London Box Office, as well as discussing the lengths Adrien Brody went to for the new Predators film. Crikey.
There's a shout out for She Blogged by Night, a fantastic blog currently featuring a timely Nolathon but spoiler alert. There are spoilers within.
The trailers they chat about are; It's Kind of a Funny Story & Due Date, Devil, Biutiful. The music this week is from Inception which Jo should have seen by next week. He's so behind the times!
Any feedback, aggressive or otherwise, can be sent here.

We then have the London box-office, the news and to finish, some finishing touches to the Coen brothers ‘odyssey’ as Simon discusses ‘The Ladykillers’ starring Tom Hanks.
To finish, we have trailers to discuss – namely the latest ‘Inception’ trailer introducing the characters, ‘Red’ starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich and additionally ‘The Green Hornet’ starring Seth Rogen and Cameron Diaz.

Simon and Jo Revealed in the Summer...
Some new videos filmed right outside Buckingham Palace ... obviously, when you hear my reaction to Jo's choice of top-film-of-the-summer, this was filmed before the last podcast because my view on it has changed...
Apologies about the lighting in the second video ... the question is this: bad lighting and buckingham palace? or good lighting and park in front of buckingham palace? [Like Big Brother] You decide.
We do have a bunch more videos and - on the right hand-side bar, or here - you just need to click on the link to be hooked up to all the previous videos we have done!
