The Simon and Jo Film Show: 31/10/2010 Saw 3D/Submarine/The Hangover
Back from our coverage of The London Film Festival we go from independent, arthouse and international cinema of the festival through to the mainsteam, hollywood franchise that is the Saw franchise. We covered it last year and so the episodes that covered the first five installments (dated 25/10/2009) and the sixth installment (dated 21/10/2009) have been re-released via Podomatic - as they are the final episodes yet to be uploaded to podomatic. What an opportune time with the release of Saw 3D - Our main review of the week.
We discuss lots of recent news on sequels and 3D-ness, with coverage of the London box-office and the recent trailers for Scream 4 and Paul (always a difficult one to find on IMDB...).
We finish, by discussing the final film seen at The London Film festival - Submarine - and, finally, after too long, Simon has watched The Hangover in preparation for the sequel, in the making, at the moment.
Trailers
Music
All music by Charlie Clouser from the Saw franchise. Some tracks are on itunes, but the vast majority of the earlier soundtracks are only available on CD - so you'd have to go to a site like amazon to get it. Additionally, we use a bunch of Michael Jackson to contain our excitement for his film

TSAJS: 17/10/2010 Let Me In/Waste Land/Manilla Skies/The Exorcist
This week The London Film Festival kicks off as we cover Let Me In, Manilla Skies and Waste Land. This precedes our coverage of the London Film Festival 2010 as over the next two weeks we shall be delivering multiple short episodes based exclusively on the film views at the festival.
But, as it stands, this episode is the usual style with the London Box-Office and latest news with, to finish, an brief overview of The Exorcist as Simon managed to catch a screening with Mark Kermode earlier in the week.
Enjoy!

A wide range of music this week! The initial three interludes are from Michael Giacchino's soundtrack for Let Me In - which you can donwload from itunes.
The music used throughout the Wasteland review and leading into the following section is a track called Isolate by Moby - again, donwloadable through itunes or bought as a CD as part of the album Wait For Me.
The 'Exorcist' track is Mike Oldfields Tubular Bells from the album of the same name, and then, to finish, a track that featured in Let Me In, though is not on the soundtrack, Let's Dance by David Bowie.

Favourite Film Faces #10: Gillian Anderson in 'Princess Mononoke'
The pupils at my school are mid-watch of Princess Mononoke and it seems to be going down well - who would think that talking wolves, blood-spitting Princesses, human-eating apes and tree spirits would go down so well.
Its my first viewing too and it really is a stunning film - right up there with Spirited Away and Howls Moving Castle. Though those clickety-click tree things always get a laugh, it is Moro, voiced by Gillian Anderson in the English dub, that stands out. A striking prescence and animalistic quality that is captured beautifully in her introduction as she tends to a hurt wolf.
A highly recommended film!

TSAJS: 10/10/2010 'The Social Network' and Raindance Film Festival
Beginning at the BFI Southbank and moving to the Clapham Picturehouse, this weeks podcast puts us ahead of the game again as we watch and review David Fincher's The Social Network a week before its UK release! Obviously, you US of A folks have had the film for a couple of weeks already so, unfortunately, we are a little behind you guys. C'est La Vie.
The show then moves into discussing the London Box-Office, the latest News and small shoutout to our Facebook fans again - with a nod to the comments from Fitz and Mr Cabin.
The podcast finishes as we discuss the Independent Film Festival, Raindance. Simon managed to watch Do Elephants Pray starring Marc Warren and Jonnie Hurn and, though not overly praising of the film, he did have a few interesting aspects to discuss.
Trailers
Music
All music is from the soundtrack to The Social Network by Trent Reznor and Atticus Finch - available on Amazon amongst other places.

We mentioned Fitz and Mr Cabin, who have their own blogs, which we highly recommend!

TSAJS: 02/10/2010 'Buried' and 'The Other Guys' and much more!
This week, back to the beginning, as we record from the Ritzy in Brixton. Jo has travelled into London, via Durrington, to reflect on the week with some film news, the London Box-Office and his choices for The London Film Festival.
The main reviews are two-fold. Simon managed to watch Roderigo Cortes claustrophobic film Buried with the inevitable opinion of Sarah. There are no spoilers whatsoever for this film so feel free to listen knowing that your film experience won't be tainted. Jo finally watched Adam McKay's The Other Guys with an all-star cast in Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Steve Coogan and the stunnign Eva Mendes amongst others. Michael Keaton for one.
Trailers
Music
A varied selection due to the lack of soundtracks for Buried and Devil. The Other Guys does not seem to have a soundtrack available to the UK, but no matter, Simon hunted down the tracks by TLC - Waterfalls, Creep and No Scrubs - used, the Rage Against The Machine cover of Maggies Farm, The White Stripes Icky Thump and, what appears to be the only song officially linked to The Other Guys in Eva Mendes featured appearance on a track by Cee-Lo Green called Pimps Don't Cry. All tracks available in a bunch of places.
Links
Obviously, you can find us on Twitter and Facebook (links on the left-hand side) and our email is simonandjofilmshow@gmail.com
We discuss the one-star review from Fandango Groovers and, I finished the podcast mentioning Mark Kermodes reviews of Buried and Devil...
