***AGAIN, PROBLEMS WITH MYPODCAST.COM - I HAVE NOW MOVED ALL PODCASTS TO PODOMATIC ... THERE IS A WAY THAT WE CAN 'MOVE' SUBSCRIBERS OVER FROM ONE SITE TO ANOTHER BUT IT DOES MEAN THAT WE HAVE TO CHANGE THE HOSTING ADDRESS***
Links to our new hosting site is as follows: http://simonandjofilmshow.podomatic.com/
While the RSS feed is:
http://simonandjofilmshow.podOmatic.com/rss2.xml
Already PodOmatic seems to be a better hosting site...
A little American theme to this weeks podcast as we begin from outside 'Eds Diner' on Old Compton Street and then move to Curzon Soho to discuss a range of films - Jo discusses his favourite film as it is his birthday, while Simon continues his Oscar Odyssey with Driving Miss Daisy from 1989. This is alongside the usual discussion about current film news and UK box-office and new releases.
Music is from The Big Lebowski.
Little White Lies Magazine link here
The Demented Encyclopedia Podcast and the two blogs, Random Ramblings of a Demented Doorknob and Movie Encyclopedia are accessible by clicking on the name.
Finally, all details about the Bradford Film Festival and Mike's Blog Destroy Apathy are here!
Trailers discussed were for Four Lions, Scott Pilgrim VS The World and Stolen...
I see that the move to podomatic is already underway. Not sure what the storage limit is on mypodcast, but it's half a gig on podomatic, so keep that in mind when transferring all of your back eps. I just went through and republished all of mine with a lower quality (it's negligible to the ear I found out after all) after my storage capacity was just about filled after only 7 or so episodes.
ReplyDeleteApparently on mypodcast its 'unlimited' or something ... except you can't actually download them so thats pretty useless.
ReplyDeleteWe have got all 25 episodes on - making up about 485MB ... so, next week we are making a decision ... pay for PRO (pretty cheap when split in two and what not...)...
Big decisions ...
Wow - I'm still impressed that 25 eps = only 485MB. You must know of some compression that I don't, because even our shortest shows (45 minutes or so) still run about 30MB.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, congrats on the move. I wouldn't worry too much about losing listeners; I moved not long ago and can't say that I really noticed a dropoff. So long as you get the new one up on iTunes asap, your listeners will go there and find the new one. Plus you've kept everyone abreast of the news.
Alright, I just finished last week's this morning...time to go rebut your Shutter Island nonsense there! ;)
Well, the files are MP3 ... I use audacity ... thats all there is to it. I record the dictaphone into audacity so ... i'm suprised it makes much difference. Our shows are getting to 45mins, but we like to play around closer to the 30mins mark - and some early ones are 25mins, whilst I am positive one is closer to 20mins ...
ReplyDeleteHey Simon, cheers for the mention and for covering the BIFF stuff. I'd just like to add that although I put a coupla bits up on Destroyapathy, the bulk of the festival I officially covered for Film&Festivals magazine (see festival blogs tab). The last couple of days should be going up soon, and in total there will be mini-reviews of just over twenty features + about 20 shorts. The John Hurt and Fernando Mierelles talks will be in the next printed issue, which is available from the site. It's a really good magazine for indie cinema.
ReplyDeleteThrough promoting these festivals and interlinking with all the other bloggers (hello LWlies), you're really becoming the hub of a nice little movement, well done and keep it up.
Believe me, Jo and I are keen to be a 'hub' of the little man - the smaller scale festivals, the independent and international cinema - all that diverse smaller scale facets of the cinema scene. Thats where we want to be.
ReplyDeleteBut yeah, I shall have a gander at the magazine because it sounds pretty impressive stuff with a similar focus on festivals and film to Jo and I!
Say it with me now - ree-lij-u-lous. Your pronunciation of it as "ree-lig-oo-lous" was making me cringe. ;)
ReplyDeleteSimon, you want the Dude from The Big Lebowski to be "inspiring?" Come on, man - it's a comedy! The movie doesn't need to inspire people to be go-getters. And, if you think about it, the Dude actually is pretty damn inspiring - who better to teach the world about the virtues of pacifism and apathy? Also, I have a theory that just about every movie with/about bowling is a classic. It's not 100%, but there's a pretty strong correlation. I even did a post about it some time back (http://blogcabins.blogspot.com/2007/04/fletchs-favored-five-movies-that-roll.html).
Anyway, as you can tell, I'm definitely with Jo on this one. Great soundtrack, too...
